Building connections with consultants

How do you think of recruitment agencies? A necessary evil or a useful resource when looking for
work. A company of ‘sales people’ or of consultants?

Have you ever thought of a recruitment agency as a partner in your job search?

Perhaps it's a little known fact but Recruitment Consultants do actually love really getting to know
their candidates (at least, we do) and the more we know about you - the more we understand what
you want from your future career. Vicky Capps, one of Impact’s experienced and respected Consultants shares her thoughts on it…

Why is it important to get to know your recruitment consultant?
I know all my clients and love to get to know the motivations of my candidates – then I can match
the two together. I have my own preferred clients that deal solely with me to source their talent, so if you get to  know me well, I will naturally remember you and have an increased desire to place you in my favourite
companies
How can candidates build a relationship with their recruitment consultant?
Simply by keeping in touch, call/message me back when I contact you – feel free to drop me an
email, if we haven’t spoken in a little while. Let me know if you’ve had a change in circumstance,
have learned something new that you want to update me with, or have a question you think I, or my
team, can help with. I always get back to people and I’m on LinkedIn if you want to connect on there
too.
Do you like it when candidates keep in touch when they have a new job?
Absolutely, I love to hear the positive news and get the opportunity to congratulate them.
I have been at Impact 11 years and regularly have candidates coming back to me to find their next
career move, even if I didn’t place them last time. Sometimes candidates I’ve placed in jobs will get
in touch with me to help them hire their own staff.

We at Impact pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with both our candidates and our
clients. We’ve been successfully recruiting in Northamptonshire for nearly 19 years now (through
good times and bad!), have retained so many clients over those years and had countless candidates
come back to us when it was time to move on or to recruit for their own staff.

Hopefully this alone speaks volumes about our genuine desire to deliver an unrivalled service and
high-quality recruitment experience for our candidates. Our whole team, whether it be the person
you’ve spoken to directly or those working behind the scenes, are ‘people people’, we take
enormous pride in a job well done and invest a lot of time and work into building real connections
with people so we can work together.Anyone can get a lot of ‘likes’ but good quality relationships are so much more fulfilling for us all, so
get in touch with Vicky and the team through the Meet The Team section of our website and take
your job searching up a level to become candidate partners with us.
