What do you do at Impact and what does a typical workday look like for you?

As the Manager of our Wellingborough Branch, I look after a team of 10 people and approximately 30 clients across the area.

My days are always very varied looking after our Sales, Account Managers and Admin teams.  I love the diversity of my role and the different challenges everyday throws at me.

What did you do before coming to Impact?

Before joining the Impact team, I worked in Recruitment for 13 years and then had a change in career path, becoming a sales manager for a manufacturing company. I missed the recruitment industry so, when the chance to join Impact came up, it was the perfect opportunity for me to get back into recruitment, with a company I knew of and respected.

What motivates you at work and what are the most rewarding aspects of your job?

I want my team to succeed in providing our clients with an unrivalled service. Whatever is going on in the economy and employment market, the team are continually striving to do a great job and looking for innovative ways to overcome clients’ recruitment issues. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing my team develop both individually and collectively.

Does anyone or anything particularly inspire you outside of work?

My Family. (and Sir Alex Ferguson)

*That’ll definitely spark some debate in the office!

How has recruitment changed in the last year and what new challenges has this presented?

The industry has changed significantly over recent years. Lower numbers of Eastern Europeans migrating to the UK has affected the pool of staff available. Fewer candidates on the market for us to choose from makes it harder to recruit but has made us develop new and exciting ways to find new staff and look after our current workforce.

The Covid19 Pandemic has changed the whole Recruitment process too. More online systems and less face-to-face contact has meant that we have needed to find new ways to engage and build strong relationships with our candidates and clients. We’ve always prided ourselves on getting to know our candidates as individuals and we are using our new online registration portal to make the process safer and easier for our candidates, without compromising on that individual relationship.

What has been the highlight of working at Impact for you?

The highlight of my time at Impact, so far, has been seeing the team pull together to work through the most challenging year we’ve probably all faced.

What qualities are needed to succeed in the recruitment industry?

Hard work, resilience, positivity, honesty and selflessness. Being a great teammate is an absolute must.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Sport, sport, sport. I’m heavily involved in cricket and football and I have 3 kids that are now also following that path. So, if I’m not playing or coaching, I’ll be watching some form of the game somewhere.

How do you take your tea/coffee?

Strong with 1 sugar, please.
